Spotlight On: Inpro Assumption Grotto

Assumption Grotto is a school, church and a cemetery. There’s old cemetery tombstones that’s been there for many years. Behind in the cemetery there’s a big Grotto statue.

On October 6^th, 1875, the Assumption Grotto was built. It’s been 136 years that the Assumption Grotto has been opened (from 1875-2011).

Thursday, November 10^th, 2011 the Inpro work crew

worked mainly on the inside of the Assumption Grotto church and the old school. Then the Friday Inpro work crew wipes down and washes the pews, sweeps the hard floors, washes the hard floors and vacuums the carpeting inside the church and the old school.

raking leaves, putting sand in the cracks of the bricks inside the cemetery area onto the ground and dug a hole into the ground of the cemetery area for an urn.

On Friday, November 11^th, 2011 I went to Assumption

Grotto on a work crew. It was 45 degrees Fahrenheit partly cloudy, very windy with peeks of sun. We worked all day in the cold from 9:00a.m-4:00p.m. from morning to the afternoon.

Spotlight On Special Tree:

 37^th Anniversary Founders Day

Dr. Joseph, and the late Mrs. Jean Richert opened up Apple Tree Lane on November 1, 1974. Then as the years went on, Mr. Dr. Joseph and the late Jean Richert changed the name from Apple Tree Lane to Special Tree NeuroCare Center, which is still opened now. The Special Tree Company is still growing and expanding, as the years go on.

On November 3^rd 2011 we celebrated Founders Day at all the Special Tree NeuroCare Centers. We had History of Special Tree Trivia, staff and clients attended, there were good conversations, and good food was had. We ate salad, breadsticks, lasagna, vegetables, sausages, cookies and drinks.

          Mike Malley, read a letter from Joe Richert about the Special Tree Company. The letter said, that everyone’s doing a good job, how they appreciate their work abilities, and keeping up the good, hard work. Founders Day was also celebrated at each of the Special Tree houses if they couldn’t come to celebrate it up at any of the Neuro Skills Centers.

          I interviewed Alicia and Stan about the Founders Day celebration. When I asked about what they liked about the celebration, Stan said, “it was fantastic” and Alicia said, she liked “everyone coming together”.

          When I asked them what food was your favorite, Alicia said “Italian sausages”, and Stan said, “spaghetti was my favorite”.

          Special Tree has important Founders Day history. I asked them, “Do you know any Special Tree History?” Alicia said, “that it was created by Doc. Richert and Jean Richert”. Stan said, “30 some years they were opened”.

          Everyone is looking forward to another successful Special Tree Neuro Skills Center Founders Day celebration next year.

Special Tree Special Events:

During the holidays; Special Tree does special and fun events. The clients like to go to… parades, museums, tea parties, dances, does and/or art and crafts, divas, cider mills, holiday parties, being with family and/or holiday dinner(s) holiday celebrations, secret Santa gatherings and/or dressing-up in their Halloween costume(s).

                Clients pick out what event they want to go do and have fun with the events. They enjoy meeting and having fun with other clients from different houses. Clients are entertaining to other clients when they go out together.

                Client’s family are more than welcome to come with their son /or daughter to one of the many special events; if they’re not busy with work. The staff encourages the clients to come and participate and have fun for the time remaining.

                If the clients like that particular event, they would ask to go again. If the staff puts that event(s) back up on the schedule they will go. The event that’s coming up next is Jaycee Park, it’s on Saturday, November 5^th, 2011. Now if the clients like Jaycee Park they will ask the staff if they can go again.
